Footwear Designing

Footwear, like clothes, has emerged as a significant facet of one's personality which sometimes, tells the observer things that even you might not be knowing about yourself. Earlier, a career in footwear designing and technology was unheard of. The forte of making shoes and other footwear rested with the unorganized traditional sector. There was very little awareness and Footwear was considered a mere necessity. But the trend has changed in the past decade boding well for the industry as well as people at large. In fact, India ranks second only to China among the footwear- producing countries. With more and more importance being given to accessories, the Indian footwear industry is undergoing a boom and is poised to grow at a whopping annual rate of 20-30% in the next couple of years. With the industry at such a high, it is but obvious that the demand for skilled professionals is bound to go up at a good pace over the years to come

A normal footwear industry can be divided into three basic departments- design, manufacture and marketing. Footwear designing involves creating new patterns and designs keeping in mind the changing needs and tastes of clients and customers. In other industries there is a huge scope of altering the finished products to suit the consumer needs. But footwear stands out as an exception to this rule, because it is something that needs to fit the consumer properly, so that there is no scope for alteration. Thus, precision is the key. And to be able to do so, one needs all the basic requirements of a designer. To be able to think spatially, have creative bent of mind and to be able to bring about a harmony between the aesthetics and utility are just a few of the prerequisites for footwear designer

Leather industry is one of the most valuable industries in the country and footwear industry is an important part of it as far as value and volume of international trade is concerned. Also, the availability of sufficient raw material combined with huge domestic market and the opportunity to cater to the world market make footwear highly attractive area for technology and investment. The idea of adding value to the footwear industry gained currency in the 1960s. Though skilled domestic work force was available but due to lack of proper training and education, there was shortage of managerial and supervisory staff with technical qualifications. Therefore, the Government of India, in order to provide, training to young and technically sound personnel for the footwear industry and to upgrade the knowledge and skill of the existing staff, established the Central Footwear Training Center, Agra (U.P.) in 1963. Another significant event was the establishment of Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), NOIDA (U.P.) under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce, Government of India in 1986

The existing between the footwear design and development was bridged. It is to the credit of FDDI, that the courses offered by the institute are of international standard

So when you get something that has the name Kanye West on it, it’s supposed to be pushing the furthest possibilities. I will be the leader of a company that ends up being worth billions of dollars, because I got the answers. I understand culture. I am the nucleus.
