    Candidate with LL.B degree securing an aggregate of 55% (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST) are eligible to apply/ Selection will be based on admission test to be conducted by the Department and relevant NEHU criteria

    Admission to LL.M. course is on the basis of an Entrance test conducted by the Department on 25th Augustt 2014 from 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m

    How to apply

    Prescribed application forms with Prospectus can be obtained in person from the Receptionistt Administrative Buildingg Permanent Campuss Shillong-793022 or from the office of the Pro-Vice Chancellorr NEHU Tura Campuss Chandmarii Tura-794002 during office hours on payment of Rs. 220/- (for General category of students) and Rs.110/- (for SC/ST category of students) through University Challan available in the University Administrative Building for cash deposit in the State Bank of India, NEHU Branch or the downloadable SBI Power Jyoti Challan for cash deposit in any other branch of State Bank of India.

    Request for application forms and Prospectus by post should be addressed to the Section Officer (Academic), NEHU, Permanent Campus, Shillong-793022 accompanied by a self addressed envelope of 30cm x 25cm affixing Rs.40/- stamp thereon and enclosing the payment for Rs.220/- (for General category of students) and Rs.110/- (for SC/ST category of students) through the e-challan duly paid and sealed/signed by the bank. The application form/Prospectus fee is not reimbursable. The admission form may also be downloaded from NEHU Website www.nehu.ac.in and filled in application form alongwith the paid and sealed/signed e-challan of the same amount can be sent to the Head of respective department.

    Application forms duly filled-in are to be submitted to the Head, Department of Law on or before 18th August, 2014. Application received after the specified date will not be entertained..

  • Symbiosis Entrance Test -SET


    Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is an entrance test conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU), which is a deemed University. The entrance test is conducted for selecting students to the undergraduate level courses, which are imparted in various affiliated / constituent institutes of the University. The final selection of the candidates purely depends upon the ranks obtained by the candidates in this common written test. However, the students seeking their admission in Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) and Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) need not appear in SET exam. Symbiosis Entrance Test is conducted at more than 17 centers across the cities of India.

    Eligibility for Symbiosis Entrance Test

    Symbiosis International University, a deemed University, conducts SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) for admission into several undergraduate level programmes that imparted in its affiliated/constituent colleges. The common written test is conducted at more than 17 cities across India. The students applying in Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) and Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) are not required to appear for the entrance test.
     
    Eligibility
    In order to appear for the test, the candidates have to follow the below listed eligibility criteria, which have been regularized by the deemed University.
     
    BA LLB/ BBA LLB
    • The candidates must have passed 10+2 level of examination or its equivalent in any discipline, from any recognized state/national Board.
    • The qualifying examination needs to have passed by the applicants with not less than 50 % aggregate marks in aggregate.
    • The final year appearing students or result awaited students may also apply for this programme.


    Examination Pattern for Symbiosis Entrance Test

    Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is conducted every year by Symbiosis International University, which is a deemed University. The candidates, who are aspiring for their admission into different undergraduate level courses offered by its affiliated colleges, have to appear for the entrance test conducted at more than 17 cities across the nation.
     
    Examination Pattern
    Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) consists of different papers for different programmes. It contains objective type-questions which the candidates have to answer within 150 minutes duration. SET exam is conducted in two sessions (morning and afternoon) for five question papers. There is no provision of negative marking for wrong answers.
     
    For BA LLB/ BBA LLB
    • The questions are based on the following topics:
    • Logical Reasoning (30 marks)
    • Legal Reasoning (30 marks)
    • Analytical Reasoning (30 marks)
    • Reading Comprehension (30 marks)

    Syllabus for Symbiosis Entrance Test

    Symbiosis International University every year conducts Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) for admission into its affiliated institutions. The scores in the entrance test determine the selection of the candidates into Law, Management (BBA), IT & Computer Application, Design, Technical and Health Sciences (Medical Technology) programmes at the undergraduate level. The common entrance test is conducted at more than 17 centers across the country.
     
    Syllabus
    Although, there is no set syllabus for general and design entrance test, but the candidates can prepare for English section by practicing Reading Comprehensions, synonyms, anonyms, dictionary meanings of different words, and correct grammar and language usage and their rules. For Quantitative section, the candidates should possess the basic knowledge of arithmetic, geometry, statistics, and algebra. For General Knowledge,one can read newspapers, magazines, books to acquire current happenings in business, health and legal fields. For Analytical and Logical Reasoning, the candidates can practice data interpretation, coding & decoding, probably true, probably false, definitely true, definitely false kind of statements to attempt section.

  • Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test - ILICAT


    Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test, which is also known as ILI CAT, is conducted by the Indian Law Institute, which is a deemed University. The entrance test is conducted for admission in postgraduate level programme in the field of law Master of Laws (LLM), a two-year full time course. After the test, a merit list is prepared based on the performance of the candidates in the entrance test. The short-listed candidates are then called for viva-voce. Final selection of the candidates is done on the basis of their performance in both the entrance test and viva-voce. Indian Law Institute, located in Delhi, came into existence in 1956. In 2004, it was declared as a Deemed University under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The institute is also recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC).

    Examination Pattern for ILI CAT

    The Indian Law Institute conducts an entrance test every year - ILI CAT. This entrance test is conducted for enrolling students to its postgraduate level programme in the field of law - Master of Laws (LLM), a two-year full time course. Candidates are finally selected on the basis of ranks obtained by them in this written test and their performance in Viva-Voce.
     
    Examination Pattern
    Before appearing for the exam, the candidates must have knowledge about the examination pattern of Indian Law Institute Common Admission Test. The entrance test is divided into three parts, which are given in following lines.
     
    Part One
    Part one of the entrance test carries only multiple-choice type questions. Each question contains four answers in which the student has to find out the correct one. The questions in this part are generally asked from the subjects of English and General Knowledge. mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
     
    Part Two
    The second part of the question paper also consists of objective-type questions. The candidates have to answer the correct option out of given four options. The questions are generally based on the law             subjects including jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, Commercial Laws (Contract, Partnership and Sale of Goods Act) and Family Law. There is a provision of negative marking in this part, that is, one fourth mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
     
    Part Three
    The third part of the entrance test consists of subjective type questions, which are asked from the law stream. The candidates are required to answer in not more than 150 words. The questions are asked from the subjects of jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, Commercial Laws (Contract, Partnership and Sale of Goods Act) and Family Law.
     
    Viva-Voce
    The candidates who have successfully passed the ILI CAT Exam are short listed to appear for Viva-Voce. It is conducted at the campus of the Indian Law Institute. For final selection, merit list is prepared on the basis of the marks of the candidates in both written test and viva-voce.

    Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India level entrance exam conducted for admission into undergraduate and postgraduate level law programmes, offered in the top eleven law Universities of India.     Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), is conducted for admission into law         program at under graduate as well as at post graduate level by eleven national law universities namely National Law School of India University, Bangalore, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, National Law Institute University, Bhopal, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, National Law University, Jodhpur, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, Chanakya National Law University, Patna, and National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi, in rotation.
     
    Eligibility
    The entrance examination is mandatory to seek admission in LLB and LLM program in most of the reputed national universities across the country.
     
    For undergraduate LLB program
    The applicants should have passed senior secondary or equivalent examination in any discipline from a recognized Board, with at least 50% aggregate marks. Relaxation of 5% is there for SC/ST/ persons with Disability (PWD) candidates. In addition, the candidates belonging to General/OBC category should not be less than 20 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission and 22 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and persons with Disability category. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible.
     
    For postgraduate LLM program
    The applicants should have passed LL.B/B.L. examination or an equivalent examination from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in total. Relaxation of 5% is there for SC/ST/OBC and those with physical disability. The aspirants, who are appearing in the qualifying examination, are also eligible for the test.

    Common Law Admission Test, popularly known as CLAT, is conducted for admission into law program at under graduate as well as at post graduate level.     Examination Pattern
    CLAT is among the most competitive entrance examinations for the study of law in India.
     
    For Undergraduate Program (LLB)
    The test paper includes 200 questions of one mark each making total, 200 marks. The duration of the entrance examination is of two hours. The test paper is divided into five sections as follows-
     
    • Section I consists of questions related to English including Comprehension of 40 marks
    • Section II comprises of questions related to General Knowledge/ Current Affairs comprising 50 marks
    • Section III includes Elementary Mathematics, which tests the Numerical ability of the applicant. The weight age of this section is 20 marks.
    • Section IV is of Legal Aptitude/Legal Awareness, which awards 45 marks and
    • Section V also fetches 45 marks. It consists of Logical Reasoning Questions.
     
    For Postgraduate Program (LLM)
    The entrance examination is conducted in below listed disciplines at post graduate level-
     
    • Law of Contracts
    • Law of Torts
    • Criminal Law
    • Constitutional Law and Legal Theory
     
    The exam of two hours of duration fetches 200 marks in total. The test is divided into the following three sections:
     
    • Objective Type
    • Short answers
    • Essay
     
    The first section includes 50 objective questions of one mark each. Second section consists of 10 questions of five marks each and the third section comprises of two essays of 50 marks each.


    Syllabus for CLAT Exam

    Common Law Admission Test, (CLAT) is conducted for the candidates, who desire to seek admission into law programs at undergraduate as well as at postgraduate level. Most of the reputed national law universities across the country consider the scores of entrance examination for admission. These law universities conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) entrance examination in rotation, every year.     There is no set/defined syllabus of entrance examination.
     
    Undergraduate Program
    The applicants can enhance their vocabulary, practice grammar related rules to attempt English section. In order to crack general awareness/current affair section and legal awareness section, one can acquire relevant knowledge by reading newspapers and books related to the subject, on a regular basis. The scholars can practice mathematics of 10+2 level for Elementary Mathematics section. By studying competitive books, one can develop logical reasoning skills.
     
    Postgraduate Program
    The candidates have to thoroughly study the curriculum of LLB/B.A Law and should keep themselves updated with latest happenings and current affairs through newspapers and books. Knowledge of basic grammar rules is also necessary.
