NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is one of the
most competitive medical entrance exams in India. The National Testing Agency is
the newly-appointed governed body of the NEET exam from the year 2019 onwards.
The exam has been proposed to be conducted twice in a year (February and May).
It is a combined national-level medical entrance exam, which paves the way for
admission to the government and private medical colleges. Candidates who clear
NEET-UG Exam are given admission in undergraduate courses of MBBS/BDS. From the
year 2016, no other entrance exam, except NEET, will be considered valid for
admission to government and private medical colleges except AIIMS and JIPMER.

The Centre's Agency NTA is going to administer the NEET exam 2019 two times a
year. This indicates that students will have one more chance to showcase their
talent and perform better. The first edition of the exam will be conducted in
February 2019 (dates not announced yet), while the second edition will take

NEET Exam 2019 Eligibility
Candidates must check out the eligibility criteria for the NEET 2019 exam before
moving ahead with the application process.
Nationality - A candidate should be a citizen of India.
Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons with Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizen
of India (OCIs) and Foreign Nationals are also eligible.
Candidates belonging to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are now eligible for the
15% All India Quota seats.
Candidates from J & K state are eligible for 15% AIQ seats only on the basis of
self-declaration.
Educational Qualifications -
A candidate should have done 12th from any recognised University or Board with a
combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or Biotechnology. MHRD
has recently authorised students who have passed class 12th from NIOS (National
Institute of Open Schooling) or any State Open School to apply for the exam.
A general candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in
Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology to become eligible for the exam.
There is a relaxation in the marks required for the reserved category of
candidates. A physically disabled person of the general class needs to have a
minimum aggregate of 45% to become eligible for the exam. For SC/ST/OBC
candidate they are required to have scored a minimum 40% in aggregate to become
eligible for the exam.
Age Limit -
Candidates should have, at least, 17 years of age at the time of admission.
The maximum age limit is 25 years. A relaxation of 5 years is applicable for the
candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST categories. Check the age criteria for the
