As a branch of management, industrial management is concerned with
management of an industry incorporating all its aspects such as man,
material and energy to produce certain commodities. Recent developments
like globalization, liberalization and rapid industrialization of the
Indian economy have resulted in setting-up of production facilities and
factories across India. Thus, the requirement of high skilled personnels
in the stream of industrial management is increasing day by day.

Course Details
management involves technical aspects of production process, quality
control, safety standard, tools and machinery, energy and power along
with optimum utilization material and human resources. Thus, unlike
other streams of management, post graduate programs in Industrial
Management, is open to only Engineering/Technology graduates
(B.E/B.Tech). Admission into these courses is made through all India
entrance tests conducted by the institutes concerned. Some institutes
also select candidates on the basis of the Common Admission Test (CAT)

Professionals trained in the
field of industrial management are in high demand these days both in
domestic as well as foreign market. Industrial Managers are best suited
for positions of manager in various industrial units such as textiles,
steel, power, chemicals, aviation, and robotics and the like. Public
sector undertakings particularly those of iron and steel, power and
energy, tools and machinery industries also offer lucrative job option
to industrial managers. However, private sector industries such as
automobiles, heavy machinery, chemical, petroleum, electronics,
electrical and engineering goods are most favoured destination for
industrial managers. Nevertheless industrial managers also can work
independently as industrial-cum-managerial consultant for providing
valuable consultancy to varieties of industries.
